Event and Group Listing Terms
Last updated: 28th July 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you submit, publish or manage an event or group listing on Cattlebarn Business Market.
By submitting a listing, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
These terms should be read alongside our:
Separate Business Listing Subscription Terms apply to paid business advertising.
2. About us
Cattlebarn Business Market is operated by:
Legal business name: Katie Longmate trading as
Trading name: Cattlebarn Business Market
Email address: info@cattlebarnmarket.co.uk
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of Cattlebarn Business Market.
“You” and “organiser” refer to the person or organisation submitting or managing a listing.
3. Our role
Cattlebarn Business Market provides an online directory where local events and groups can be advertised.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, we do not organise, operate, supervise, recommend or endorse the events and groups listed on the website.
The organiser remains fully responsible for the event or group and for all information submitted.
4. Who can submit a listing
You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to advertise the event or group.
You may submit a listing if you are:
-
the organiser;
-
an authorised employee, volunteer or representative;
-
acting with the organiser’s permission; or
-
responsible for promoting the event or group.
You must not submit a listing on behalf of another person or organisation without their knowledge and permission.
5. Website account
You must create a free website account to submit and manage a listing. You can register using an email address or an available third-party sign-in option, such as Google or Facebook.
You are responsible for:
-
providing accurate account information;
-
keeping your login details secure;
-
all listings and changes made through your account; and
-
contacting us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You must not use another person’s account or identity.
6. Cost of listings
Standard event and group listings are currently free to submit.
Optional promotional or featured-listing services may be offered separately in the future. Any price and additional terms will be displayed before a purchase is made.
We may introduce or change listing charges in the future, but no charge will be taken without clear notice and your agreement.
7. Publication of listings
Listings are published automatically and do not require approval before appearing on the marketplace.
A listing will usually become visible within 15 minutes of submission, although publication may occasionally take longer because of technical or processing delays.
Automatic publication does not mean that we have checked, verified, approved or endorsed the listing.
We may review a listing after publication and remove it if it breaches these terms.
8. Information you provide
You are responsible for ensuring that all information in your listing is accurate, current and not misleading.
This includes:
-
the event or group name;
-
descriptions and activities;
-
dates and meeting times;
-
location and venue information;
-
prices, ticket costs and additional charges;
-
booking requirements;
-
age restrictions;
-
accessibility information;
-
contact details;
-
website, booking and social media links;
-
organiser details; and
-
photographs, logos and other content.
You must not exaggerate or misrepresent the event, group, facilities, qualifications, accessibility arrangements or services available.
9. Managing and updating a listing
You can manage and edit your listing through your account area.
You are responsible for updating the listing promptly if details change. This includes changes to:
-
dates or meeting times;
-
venues or locations;
-
prices;
-
booking arrangements;
-
accessibility information;
-
contact details;
-
activities or services; and
-
whether the event or group is still operating.
You should remove or clearly update a listing that is no longer active.
All edits remain subject to these terms, and we may remove amended content that breaches our listing rules.
10. Event cancellations and changes
Event organisers must update their listing promptly if an event is:
-
cancelled;
-
postponed;
-
rescheduled;
-
moved to another venue;
-
sold out;
-
changed from in-person to online, or vice versa; or
-
materially changed in another way.
The organiser is responsible for notifying ticket holders, attendees and relevant third parties.
Updating a Cattlebarn Business Market listing does not replace direct communication with people who have booked or expressed an interest.
We are not responsible for notifying attendees of changes or for any costs, inconvenience or loss resulting from an event being cancelled or changed.
11. Ongoing group listings
Group organisers must keep regular meeting information current, including the location, frequency, availability and arrangements for new members.
If a group closes, pauses its activities or stops accepting new members, its listing must be updated or removed promptly.
The organiser is responsible for deciding whether the group, its activities and its participants are appropriately managed and supervised.
12. Tickets, bookings and payments
Cattlebarn Business Market does not sell tickets, take bookings or collect payments for events and groups advertised by third parties.
Any booking, payment or agreement is made directly between the organiser and the attendee or member.
The organiser is responsible for:
-
setting and clearly displaying prices;
-
managing bookings and availability;
-
providing receipts or confirmations where required;
-
explaining cancellation and refund arrangements;
-
processing refunds;
-
handling booking disputes; and
-
complying with applicable consumer law.
We are not responsible for lost bookings, payment disputes, cancelled activities or refunds owed by an organiser.
13. Safety, insurance and legal responsibilities
The organiser is responsible for the safe and lawful operation of the event or group.
Where relevant, the organiser must ensure that appropriate arrangements are in place for:
-
risk assessments;
-
public liability and other suitable insurance;
-
licences, permissions and permits;
-
venue permission;
-
first aid and emergency procedures;
-
food safety;
-
alcohol sales;
-
music, entertainment or performance licensing;
-
security and crowd management;
-
traffic and parking;
-
accessibility;
-
equipment and activity safety; and
-
compliance with health and safety requirements.
Cattlebarn Business Market does not check or guarantee that an organiser holds the necessary insurance, licence, qualification or permission.
Government guidance confirms that organisers retain responsibility for public safety, and insurance requirements vary depending on the type and scale of the activity. Government guide to organising voluntary events
14. Safeguarding
Organisers of activities involving children or adults at risk are responsible for putting suitable safeguarding arrangements in place.
Where appropriate, this may include:
-
safeguarding policies and procedures;
-
appropriate supervision;
-
safer recruitment practices;
-
relevant DBS checks;
-
parental or guardian consent;
-
suitable photography and information-sharing arrangements; and
-
a clear process for reporting concerns.
A listing must not include a child’s private contact information, home address or other unnecessary identifying information.
The presence of a listing on Cattlebarn Business Market does not confirm that we have checked the organiser, staff, volunteers, qualifications or safeguarding arrangements.
Parents, carers and attendees should make their own enquiries before attending.
15. Accessibility information
Organisers should provide accurate accessibility and inclusion information where this is relevant to potential attendees.
You must not state that an event or group is accessible unless the information is accurate. You should explain any important limitations clearly.
Visitors should be encouraged to contact the organiser directly if they have specific access requirements.
16. Photographs, logos and other content
By submitting text, photographs, logos or other materials, you confirm that:
-
you own the content or have permission to use it;
-
you have permission from identifiable people where required;
-
the content does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
-
appropriate permission has been obtained before publishing images of children or adults at risk; and
-
the content is lawful, accurate and suitable for public display.
You retain ownership of your original content.
You give Cattlebarn Business Market permission to host, publish, format, resize and reproduce the content for the purposes of:
-
displaying your listing;
-
operating the marketplace;
-
sharing or promoting the listing; and
-
promoting Cattlebarn Business Market.
This permission continues while the listing is active and for a reasonable period afterwards where content has already been included in promotional material.
17. Prohibited listings and content
You must not use an event or group listing to advertise:
-
unlawful activities;
-
fraudulent, false or misleading offers;
-
hatred, discrimination, harassment or violence;
-
sexually explicit services or content;
-
dangerous activities presented without appropriate information;
-
unlicensed or unlawfully supplied products or services;
-
pyramid schemes;
-
multi-level marketing or network marketing opportunities;
-
recruitment into an MLM or similar scheme;
-
counterfeit goods;
-
content that infringes another person’s rights; or
-
anything that could reasonably put users or the marketplace at risk.
Event and group listings must not be used as a way to avoid the paid Business Listing Subscription Terms.
A commercial business running a genuine public event may be permitted to advertise the event, but the listing must primarily promote the specific event rather than act as general, ongoing business advertising.
Marketing claims must be accurate and comply with applicable advertising rules. The ASA explains that marketing content connected with goods, services and opportunities may fall within the CAP Code. ASA guidance on the scope of the CAP Code
18. Reviews, removal and suspension
We may review, edit, suspend or remove a listing if we reasonably believe that:
-
it breaches these terms;
-
it contains inaccurate or misleading information;
-
it is unlawful, inappropriate or unsafe;
-
it infringes another person’s rights;
-
it advertises prohibited content or activity;
-
it is actually a commercial business advert submitted through a free listing form;
-
the event has passed or the group is no longer operating;
-
we receive a serious or credible complaint;
-
the listing has been submitted without authority;
-
the organiser fails to update a cancelled or materially changed event; or
-
continued publication could harm users or the marketplace.
Because listings publish automatically, removal may take place without prior notice where prompt action is reasonably necessary.
Where appropriate, we may contact the organiser and provide an opportunity to correct the listing. We are not obliged to reinstate removed content.
We may also suspend or close an account that is repeatedly or seriously used in breach of these terms.
19. Complaints and reporting a listing
If you believe a listing is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful or unsafe, contact:
Email: info@cattlebarnmarket.co.uk
Please include:
-
the name or link of the listing;
-
the reason for your concern;
-
any relevant evidence; and
-
your contact details.
We may contact the organiser, request further information or remove the listing while a serious complaint is considered.
We are not required to mediate private disputes between organisers, attendees or members.
20. No guarantee of results
We do not guarantee that a listing will receive any particular number of:
-
views;
-
enquiries;
-
bookings;
-
attendees;
-
participants;
-
website visits;
-
social media interactions; or
-
positions within Cattlebarn Business Market or search-engine results.
We also do not guarantee that a listing will be indexed or displayed by Google or another search engine.
21. Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
To the extent permitted by law, Cattlebarn Business Market is not responsible for:
-
inaccurate information supplied by an organiser;
-
the conduct of organisers, attendees or members;
-
injury, loss or damage connected with an event or group;
-
event cancellations, postponements or changes;
-
ticketing, booking or refund disputes;
-
an organiser’s failure to obtain insurance, licences or permissions;
-
safeguarding failures;
-
problems with a venue, supplier or third-party service;
-
a lack of attendance, enquiries or other results; or
-
temporary delays or interruptions affecting publication.
The organiser remains responsible for claims arising from the event, group, listing or content they supply.
22. Personal information
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Contact details intentionally supplied for publication may be visible to website visitors and search engines.
You must not submit another person’s personal information unless you have authority and a lawful reason to do so.
23. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the marketplace, listing service or applicable law.
The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date. Updated terms will apply to new listings and future changes made to existing listings.
24. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, subject to any rights that cannot legally be restricted.
